Highland Beach in South Florida

Highland Beach

Highland Beach is nestled between the larger towns of Delray Beach and Boca Raton, located along the scenic A1A highway. Without a single traffic light, its quiet and relaxing beaches serve as critical nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles. For eight months out of the year, from March 1 through October 31, turtles come to the shores and lay thousands of eggs in nests all along the beaches. Weeks later, the hatchlings burst from the sand and make their way to the moonlit sea. No traffic light needed here.

Highland Beach is a wonderful town for a vacation or second home. During winter months and seasonal times, the population surges to over 8,000 residents, many of whom come from areas in the northeast such as New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. The City of Delray Beach is located to the north and northwest and Boca Raton is located to the southwest. Residents of Highland Beach, FL are comprised mainly of 80% retirees and 20% persons who are employed or own businesses in Palm Beach County and Broward County. During the winter, the size of the town doubles with snowbirds living and visiting Highland Beach.

Known for it's stunning water views and upscale condominiums, Highland Beach is a great place to enjoy the ultimate South Florida lifestyle along the Atlantic Ocean. Residents of Highland Beach are often found walking on the sandy beaches, jogging along the Intracoastal, or riding their bikes on the pedestrian-friendly streets.

Highland Beach continues to provide incomparable serenity and seclusion among natural splendor with balmy weather that allows its residents year-round swimming and boating, or cycling and jogging. Early risers wake up to watch the sunrise with their toes in the sand while night owls watch the sunset over their boats docked on the Intracoastal.

Highland Beach experienced a condo building boom during the 1980's with several new buildings erecting along the coastline. A Canadian developer built Villa Nova and Villa Magna which at the time were some of the most exclusive condo buildings on Highland Beach. When Boca Highlands Beach Club and Marina was built in the early 1980's, it was the first of it's kind, offering residents a beachfront club and pool area. Even today, it's one of only three communities in Highland Beach that has a private beach club.
